Supplier-disclosed industry ranges are typically 10–50 kg with 4–8 week lead times for cosmetic-grade Galactomyces ferment filtrate from established Japanese fermentation facilities. Production is year-round (the input is yeast culture, not a seasonal raw material), so scheduling is generally driven by batch capacity and standardization rather than supply availability.

Some Japanese fermentation contract manufacturers will develop custom strain × substrate combinations for brand owners under exclusivity terms, with separate development fees and minimum annual offtake commitments. This is a multi-month engagement (often 6+ months) and includes process development, QC method establishment, and stability work. For most brands, selecting from existing supplier preparations is more cost- and time-efficient.

Beyond standard cosmetic raw-material parameters (microbiological limits, pH, color/odor), buyers should request total amino acid content and specifically declared major organic acids (e.g. lactic, citric) where these support the brand's claim positioning. Solids/dry-matter content and any preservative system used in the filtrate should be declared. For prestige positioning, request batch-level analytical data rather than nominal spec ranges.
