Company History of Chinoshio Co., Ltd.

  Founded in March 1975 by Tomotoku Taguchi with research into soap product development, the company relocated its headquarters to Yamaga, Kumamoto Prefecture in May 1977 and was renamed Clean Oil & Fat Industry. The company obtained cosmetics manufacturing license in March 1979. A cosmetics manufacturing plant was completed in Gamofu in June 1986, and株式会社地の塩社 was formally incorporated. In May 1991, the cosmetics manufacturing division was spun off to establish Limited Company Clean Oil & Fat Industry. The product "Mugwort Soap" received nationwide attention after television broadcast in 1992. Atsushi Taguchi assumed the position of representative director in August 1994. A new factory was completed and the headquarters relocated in August 1996, consolidating manufacturing operations. The Gamofu Logistics Center was completed in August 2001. All shares of Greenfile were acquired in March 2004, followed by acquisition of quasi-drugs manufacturing license in April 2004. The Kuhara Plant 2 was completed in April 2008, and Greenfile was merged through absorption in December 2008. A solar power generation facility commenced operations in March 2013. Quasi-drugs manufacturing license was obtained in December 2014. Chinochio Sales and Yomogi Club were merged through absorption in December 2016. Plant 2 Building B was completed in December 2019, and the company was recognized as a Kumamoto Prefecture Leading Development Enterprise. ISO22716 certification was registered in August 2021.
