Founded as "Kubo no Abura-ya" around 1600, the company was established as "Shimura" by Eijiro Shimura in 1823. Mashiko-yaki Shimura was established in 1972, followed by the incorporation of Shimura Corporation in December 1988. The company began trading with the Mitsukoshi Isetan Group in 2007, with Masayo Kawasaki assuming the position of Representative Director in 2012. Business operations in India commenced in 2014, with exports to eight countries starting in 2016. A contract was established with Okinawa farmers in 2017, and the Okinawa office opened in 2019. In 2023, Shimura Corporation obtained manufacturing authorization for quasi-drugs, and in 2024, it received manufacturing business authorization for medical devices.
