  Founded in March 1930 in Numagafuchi, Nakano Ward, Tokyo as a manufacturer and distributor of colorants and pigments for cosmetics, the company was established as Nippon Shikizai Kogyo Kenkyusho Co., Ltd. in March 1957 with the primary focus on cosmetic OEM manufacturing, establishing facilities in Tokyo and Osaka. Subsequently, manufacturing facilities were opened in Kishibe, Suita, Osaka (December 1963), Suita (December 1971), and Zama, Kanagawa (November 1979). The company obtained a quasi-drug manufacturing license in August 1985 and a cosmetics import/sales license in August 1995. It was listed on the OTC market of the Japan Securities Dealers Association in July 1996 and completed its Research Center in February 1999. In February 2000, the company acquired shares in Tepnier S.A., a French enterprise. ISO9001:2000 certification was obtained in November 2003, followed by listing on the Jasdaq Securities Exchange in December 2004 and the Tokyo Stock Exchange Jasdaq in July 2013. The first phase of the Tsukuba facility was completed in February 2014, with Nippon Shikizai France becoming a subsidiary in 2017. The company transitioned to the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market in April 2022 and was listed on the Nagoya Stock Exchange Main Market in February 2026.
