  Seven Seas was established in 1993 as a cosmetics wholesale distributor, and began fermentation research in 1996. Toyo Shinyaku was founded in September 1997 as a spin-off from Seven Seas and commenced barley grass young leaf juice research. In 1999, the company signed an agreement to enter Tosu City, Saga Prefecture. Research on Flavangenol began in 2000, followed by the completion of the Tokyo Branch and Main Factory in 2001. In 2002, Toyo Shinyaku obtained Japan's first approval for barley grass young leaf juice as a food with nutrient function claim and established the Flavangenol Clinical Pharmacology Research Association. The company achieved Japan's leading number of nutrient function claim approvals in 2005 and established Formalcline in 2006. Pharmaceutical operations commenced in 2011 with the establishment of Toyo Green Farm. In 2012, barley grass young leaf obtained Japan's first GLOBALG.A.P. certification. The Intelligence Park First Factory was completed in 2019, and an organizational partnership contract was signed with Kyushu University. Intelligence Logistics was completed in 2023, HARIAS was established in 2024, and development of next-generation amino acid 'BEAA' commenced in 2026.
