  Founded in 1854 (Ansei 1) in Yanagibashi, Nagoya, the company was incorporated as Maruta Setsutatsu Shoten (合資会社丸タ節辰商店) in 1921, and subsequently reorganized as Setsutatsu Shoten Co., Ltd. (有限会社節辰商店) in 1947. The company developed and began manufacturing dashi packs in 1968, and constructed a new head office (current main store) in 1974. It opened a branch at Nagoya Central Market North Market in 1983 and established the Fujimae Distribution Center in the Fujimae Logistics Complex in 1985. The Tokai-Ohashi Logistics Center was completed in 1988, marking the relocation of headquarters functions. In 1995, the New Funabashi Development Center was constructed, commencing production of mentsuyu and liquid dashi. ISO 14001 certification was obtained in 1999, followed by ISO 9001 certification in 2001. The inspection laboratory was registered with Aichi Prefecture as an environmental measurement certification business in 2005, and the Yanagibashi Market Store opened the same year. In 2011, the mail-order e-commerce website was redesigned.
