  The company was founded in 1980 when founder Kiyoshi Yamasawa left his previous position to establish 'Herb Institute SPUR' and begin pesticide-free herb cultivation. In 1992, the company started edible pigeon breeding and the manufacturing of additive-free organic herb soaps. In 1998, production of additive-free pickles using herb-infused vinegar commenced. The company obtained cosmetics manufacturing and sales licensing in April 2010, and was reorganized and renamed to 株式会社ハーブ研究所 (Herb Institute Co., Ltd.) in June 2019.
