Company History of Tokiwa Corporation

Founded in July 1948 by Soga Fujio as Tokiwa Sangyo Corporation in Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, the company established Tokiwa Pencil Manufacturing Corporation in March 1961. The Nagoya Plant (papermaking division) commenced operations in Owariasahi, Aichi Prefecture in February 1965, followed by the opening of a cosmetics division in Tokyo in November 1969. A cosmetics production line was installed at the Nakatsugawa Head Office Plant in May 1980, and the Adachi Plant was established in Adachi Ward, Tokyo in August 1988. Following the merger of four companies in February 1991, Tokiwa Corporation was established. The Ochiai Plant was constructed in Nakatsugawa in April 1996, and a joint venture in Myanmar was established in December 1997. Kunshan Yongqing Cosmetics Co., Ltd. was founded in Jiangsu Province, China in April 2003, followed by the establishment of Sonax Corporation in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture in October 2005. The Global Technology Center opened in January 2008, and Tokiwa Subic Corporation was established in the Philippines in July 2015. The Toki Plant commenced operations in March 2018, and in April 2019, the company established its U.S. plant and initiated a partnership with Carlyle Group. A partnership with Nippon Colmar Holdings commenced in July 2024.
