Company History of Wataru Co., Ltd.

  Nishi Bayashi Shoten was established in November 1947. It was reorganized as a corporation and renamed Wataru Shoji Co., Ltd. in November 1953. The Nagoya branch opened in December 1967, followed by the Osaka branch in May 1971. Wataru Corporation was established in February 1973, with the Wataru Building completed in May 1974. Capital was increased to 90 million yen in December 1976. The Jamaica Coffee Import Council was established and joined in October 1981. The company joined the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) in October 2000 and was registered as an importer with FLO in October 2002. A resident representative was dispatched to Guatemala starting in June 2004. An online wholesale green coffee bean sales platform was launched in February 2013. In 2020, Wataru Corporation began participation in the Costa Rica Casa de la Alegria Fund.
