  The company was founded in 1800 when Matabe (the first generation) established a soy sauce brewing business in Sakai. In 1830, it relocated to Sakai Shin-Zaike-cho. The trademark "Matsunomori" was registered in 1889, and in 1898, Matsunomori was granted imperial patronage by the Imperial Household Agency. The third generation received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1913. The company was incorporated in 1926. The factory was completely destroyed in the Sakai Air Raid of 1945, and reconstruction began at the current location in 1946. In 1952, the company developed the industry's first vitamin-enriched soy sauce. It was certified as a JAS-approved factory in 1964, and Daishō Co., Ltd. was established in 1970. The seasoned soy sauce product "Yuzu Ponzu" was launched in 1980. The company celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2000. ISO 9001 certification was obtained in 2004. In 2013, it won the Gold Award at Monde Selection. A seasoned soy sauce production facility (FS Building) was completed in 2017. In 2021, JFS-B certification compliance was obtained.
