  Founded in 1919 as Katakigi Shouten in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, the company commenced food and alcohol wholesale operations. In 1934, Manchuria Commerce Corporation was established in Xingjing, Manchukuo. The company reopened in Tenma, Osaka in 1949. In January 1953, Katakigi Shouten was registered as a corporation with Eishiro Katakigi as representative director. Branch offices were opened in Fukuoka in 1957 and Tokyo in 1959. A sesame processing plant was constructed and relocated to Neyagawa in 1963, followed by the opening of the Sapporo office in 1964. In 1967, Eishiro Katakigi assumed the position of inaugural chairman of the All Japan Sesame Processors' Federation. The company name was changed to Katagi Foods Corporation in 1982. The Sendai branch office opened in 1983, and the Neyagawa Plant Distribution Center was established in 1995. In 1998, Seiji Katakigi became chairman of the All Japan Sesame Processors' Federation. Organic JAS certification was obtained in 2001, ISO9001:2000 certification in 2002, and ISO22000:2005 certification in 2012. Production commenced at the Neyagawa Plant Mama facility in 2014. The company joined the Kadoya Oil Group in 2017 with Muneo Baba as representative director. In 2020, Keisuke Sato assumed the position of representative director and president, production began at the new building of Neyagawa Plant, and FSSC22000 certification was acquired. Koji Sankawa became representative director and president in 2023, and Koichi Oyama assumed the position in 2026.
