  Founded in September 1962 by Shizuo Taniguchi as Taniguchi Shogai, a confectionery materials distributor. Taniguchi Co., Ltd. was established in October 1979. The Tokushima Factory was completed in September 1980, followed by the Kihnan Factory in July 1983 (the Tokushima Factory closed in February 1985). The Kawabe Factory was completed in July 1989, expanded in March 1998, and renamed to Wakayama Factory in April 1999. ISO9001 certification was obtained in November 2000, the Wakayama Factory was expanded in September 2003, and the Tokyo Office opened in May 2006. The company underwent management succession in August 2010. The Hidakagawa Factory was completed in July 2013 and obtained FSSC22000 certification in August 2015. The Wakayama Factory underwent renovation in July 2017, and the company obtained FSSC22000 and ISO22000 certifications in August 2017. In October 2017, the company received the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award for Food Hygiene Excellence. Taniguchi Co., Ltd. was selected as a Regional Future-Leading Company in December 2018. A refrigeration and storage facility was completed in August 2019. ISO14001 certification was obtained in October 2022, and the Biomass Tray Molding Factory was completed in August 2023. Founder Shizuo Taniguchi passed away in May 2024. The Biomass Tray Molding Factory obtained FSSC22000 certification in July 2025, and the company will exhibit at Osaka Kansai Expo in September 2025.
