  Founded in 1972 as Kuma Ichi Foods engaged in dried vegetable processing, Kira Foods Co., Ltd. was established in December 1988 and commenced operations at the Kawabe Factory. The Oobayashi Factory began operations in August 1993, followed by the Muro Factory in December 1998. In June 1996, the company obtained a patent for "Bagged Kinpira Burdock Root," and in December 1996, a patent for "Manufacturing Method of Dried Burdock Root for Kinpira." The Maki Factory started operations in April 2008. The Agricultural Cooperative Kyushu Kira Farm was established in July 2004, followed by the incorporation of Kyushu Kira Farm Co., Ltd. in July 2010. The two entities merged in November 2011. In February 2012, "Oyasai Hyakka" (Garlic) became an accredited producer of specially cultivated agricultural products. The Hirakawa Center commenced operations in October 2013. All factories obtained ISO22000:2018 certification in March 2020.
