  The company traces its origins to the establishment of Kyōeki Seicha Hanbai Kumiai in 1891. In 1920, founder Maruyama Tsujimatsu joined Maruyama Kyōei Momikatsu Seicha Co., Ltd. The business expanded with the establishment of Kyōeki Seicha Saisei-sho in 1933, followed by the founding of Maruyama Seicha Saisei-sho as a private enterprise in 1938. The company was incorporated as Maruyama Shōten Co., Ltd. in April 1958 and changed its name to Maruyama Seicha Co., Ltd. in 1986. In 1996, a new headquarters facility and minus 25°C cold storage equipment were completed. The company obtained organic processed food production management certification in 2006 and NOP organic certification for the United States in 2010. ISO22000 certification was acquired in 2011. In 2015, the company expanded with a second factory. Kosher certification was obtained in 2016, followed by FSSC22000 certification at the second factory and completion of the third factory in 2017. Additional FSSC22000 certification was achieved at the third factory in 2018, and the Tokyo sales office was opened the same year. Halal certification was obtained in 2019.
