  Japan Tablet Co., Ltd. traces its origins to August 1973 with the establishment of Kyoto Food Research Institute Ltd. in Makishima-cho, Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, commencing tablet pressing and granulation operations. In October 1982, Tablet Industry Co., Ltd. was founded to begin manufacturing and sales of pharmaceutical equipment and tablet presses. The company transitioned to a joint-stock corporation in November 1985, relocated its headquarters and manufacturing facilities to their current location (Machigawa, Makishima-cho, Uji) in April 1992, and completed Plant 2 in March 1997. Plant 4 (cleanroom specification) was completed in March 2004. The company changed its name to Japan Tablet Co., Ltd. in March 2005, obtained GMP certification across all facilities in March 2007, and achieved FSSC22000 certification at all plants in June 2022.
