  Founded in 1951 as Ishiyama Food Industry Co., Ltd., the company began manufacturing and selling bottled soft drinks, lactic acid fermented milk beverages, and dairy drinks. In 1971, Sangaria Canned Coffee was launched, followed by the establishment of 株式会社日本サンガリアベバレッジカンパニー in 1974. The Sangaria Research Institute was established in 1980, followed by the launch of Whisper and the establishment of Sangaria Foods in 1983, with the construction of the Imagawa Plant in 1984. In 1985, canned green tea "Ocha" was introduced, and in 1986, the company pioneered nitrogen-filled aluminum canned beverages in the industry. A Los Angeles subsidiary was established in 1987, and in 1991, the company announced its philosophy to "relentlessly pursue natural beverages with Sangaria," eliminating all synthetic colorants and preservatives. A reverse osmosis water treatment system was installed and the head office building was constructed in 1994. In 1995, the company launched Japan's first beverage industry homepage, followed by the industry-first 500ml milk coffee PET bottle in 1998 and the construction of the Iga Plant. In 1999, the company released "Attakkai Ocha" (warm green tea), the industry's first heated PET bottled green tea.
