  Smoca Toothpaste Co., Ltd. traces its origins to 1925 when Kotobukiya Corporation developed and launched Smoca, a premium canned toothpaste that subsequently expanded to nationwide distribution. The company was formally established in November 1932. In 1942, it opened overseas factories in Mukden and Tianjin. In 1956, it entered into a partnership with Taiwan-based Datai Pharmaceutical, and in 1962, began manufacturing and selling Pond's cosmetics domestically following an agreement with the American Cheese-Ponds Company. Further partnerships were established with American International in 1974 and a general agency agreement with Hong Kong's Xinhua Company in 1978. The company diversified into manufacturing and OEM services for tubed paste toothpaste in 1986 and constructed a liquid toothpaste factory in 1995. In 2015, the company launched its own brand "Cosmion," followed by "MASHIRO" in 2020. In 2022, it established a new manufacturing facility, "SMOCA WORKS."
