日本緑茶センター株式会社 was established as "Nihon Ryokucha Shinkoku Center" in Kitazawa, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo in 1969 and incorporated in 1971. The headquarters relocated to Yoyogi, Shibuya Ward in 1973, and the company was renamed 日本緑茶センター株式会社 in 1980. The company opened "Thérapothique Aoyama," Japan's first specialty herb tea shop, in 1982, and established an Osaka branch office and a representative office in Germany in 1985. A Chinese tea café "Cha-Yu" was opened at Shinjuku Takashimaya in 1996. The company obtained organic JAS certification in 2011, opened a production facility in Shizuoka in 2018, obtained Rainforest Alliance certification in 2022, and obtained FSSC22000 certification in 2023.
