  Founded in 1931 by Kenjiro Iwase with the establishment of Iwase Kenjiro Shoten in Takatsutsu, Minami-ku, Osaka, the company evolved through several milestones: Kansai Pharmaceutical Chemical Industry was established in 1939, followed by the construction of the Osaka First Factory and the founding of Kotobuki Chemical Industry Corporation in July 1941. Cosmetics production, including hair fragrances, began in 1944; HyNeo was established in 1957, export manufacturing commenced in 1958, and the company expanded into a comprehensive cosmetics manufacturer with men's cosmetics and makeup in 1961. The company was renamed Toyo Beauty Chemical in 1969, made a strategic shift to cosmetics OEM in 1975, and changed its corporate name to Toyo Beauty Corporation in 1976. Subsequent expansion included the Osaka Second Factory (1979), Third Factory, now the Central Research Institute (1982), Tsukuba New Factory (1990), Ueno New Factory in Mie Prefecture with the closure of the Osaka Factory (1999), Utsunomiya Factory and Tokyo Sales Office in Tochigi Prefecture (2001), and the opening of the Central Research Institute (2004). The HBC Science Research Institute was established in 2007, followed by Utsunomiya Second Factory and Utsunomiya Research Institute (2009). In 2013, the headquarters relocated to Chuo-ku, Osaka, and the Innovation Center was opened. The Utsunomiya Factory obtained ISO22716 certification in 2014, the Ueno Factory in 2016, and Seven-One Research was acquired in 2017. In 2019, the Saga Factory was established in Saga Prefecture with ISO22716 certification.
