  In 2007, the founder encountered koji (rice koji) at miso and sake breweries in Niigata. The company opened Komachi Koji Manufacturing in the Kami-Komachi shopping street in Niigata in July 2009. In 2013, it took over the operations of Minemura Brewing. Kabushiki Kaisha Komachi Koji Manufacturing was established in March 2014, followed by the business succession of Imagidai Sake Brewery.
