  Founded in January 1937 by Daisaku Kato as Hinozuru Seika-sho, a sole proprietorship in Honzuka-cho, Nishi Ward, Nagoya, initially engaged in candy craftsmanship. Kato Seika Co., Ltd. was established in April 1953. The company relocated its business office and factory to 60 Akagi-cho, Nishi Ward, Nagoya in 1965. In 1975, ahead of industry trends, it introduced standard containers for small candy shops and launched "Jumbo Cola" nationwide. The company developed and nationwide sales of "Shio-ame" (salt candy) in 1977, the industry's first of its kind. In 1983, it pioneered a technology to encapsulate effervescent powder within candies. In 1994, the company began development of sugar-free candies using palatinit, followed by commencement of OEM product development and manufacturing for major manufacturers in 1995. The head office relocated and consolidated to 60 Akagi-cho, Nishi Ward, Nagoya in 2002, with Atsushi Kato assuming the position of representative director. In 2012, the head office and factory relocated to 39 Oki-no-shima Kamiorisaki, Shichihō-cho, Ama City, Aichi Prefecture. An additional 1,572 ㎡ of adjacent land was acquired in 2019. In 2021, the company issued an SDGs declaration. In 2023, a factory direct sales outlet was opened and the third factory and warehouse were expanded. In 2024, SBT certification was obtained, marking the beginning of decarbonization management initiatives.
