  Founded in 1933 in Shingu, Wakayama Prefecture, Naito Co., Ltd. traces its roots in bean paste manufacturing to the Hachiman Shrine in Okitsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The company's foundational techniques originated from the pioneering work of Yusaku Kitagawa and Ikutaro Naito, who jointly developed large-scale bean paste production methods during the Meiji period. Founder Toshiharu Mochizuki remained actively involved in operations until his death at age 90, continuously providing technical guidance to successors. He was instrumental in developing sweetened bean paste during an era when fresh bean paste dominated the market.
