  Tanaka Seizan was established as a sole proprietorship in 1947 and incorporated as Tanaka Seizan Shoten Co., Ltd. in September 1950. The company was renamed Tanaka Seizan Co., Ltd. in 1960, marking the construction of the industry's first specialized kneaded red bean paste production facility. In 1970, the company pioneered the adoption of vacuum concentration technology in kneaded paste manufacturing, followed by the completion of mass production equipment for 'kanoko beans' in 1976, the industry's first of its kind. The Hokkaido plant was established in Chitose, Hokkaido in 1983, with 'Taiyaki Tanaka-ya' opening in Chitose in 2009. The company obtained ISO22000:2005 certification in 2013, transitioned to ISO22000:2018 in 2020, and installed a frozen and refrigerated storage unit with 500-pallet capacity at its distribution center in 2023.
