  Founded in December 1948 as Heiwa Oil Industry Co., Ltd. (with capital of 2 million yen) and began margarine manufacturing, the company changed its name to Rokko Butter Co., Ltd. in July 1954. In November 1958, it commenced processed cheese manufacturing using Australian raw materials and launched the QBB brand. The company began trading with Mitsubishi Corporation in 1959, developed and launched the world's first stick cheese in 1960, established the Akashi Plant in 1961, and listed on the Osaka Securities Exchange Second Section in 1963. The Tokyo branch was opened in 1965, followed by the Inami Plant in 1966. The Inami Plant achieved monthly production of 1,000 tons in 1968. Individual wrapped sliced cheese was developed in 1971, and QBB Nuts were launched in 1972. Rokko Foods was established in 1976, and rare cheesecake was developed in 1982. The Kasai Plant opened in 1984, followed by baked cheesecake development in 1988. In 1989, the company concluded a contract for importing and selling chocolate from Lindt & Sprüngli. The Nagano Plant was acquired in 1994, and ISO9001 certification was obtained in 2000, followed by ISO14001 certification in 2001. The Inami Plant Fifth Plant was newly established and baby cheese was registered in Japan in 2008. The Rokko-san Q Cheese Museum opened in 2010. The company was listed on the Osaka Securities Exchange First Section in 2012 and on the Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section in 2013. A joint venture company was established in Indonesia in 2017, and the Kobe Plant was newly established in 2019. The company transitioned to the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market in 2022, established a sales company in Vietnam in 2023, and fully acquired Mitsuya Co., Ltd. and established a manufacturing and sales company in Vietnam in 2025.
