  Founded in 1953 as the Sapporo Atsube Dairy Cooperative Association, Shin-Sapporo Dairy Co., Ltd. began milk production in 1960 with the construction of its first milk processing facility. The company relocated to its current location in 1982 with a new factory and expanded into yogurt and pudding manufacturing in 1983. Following its reorganization into a joint-stock company in 1989, the company launched the Sawayaka milk brand in 1990. The completion of a second factory in 1995 was followed by the opening of new corporate headquarters and the start of cheese production in 1997. Camembert cheese sales began in 1998, and a comprehensive HACCP-compliant production facility was completed in 2005. A Kanto sales office (now Tokyo sales office) was established in 2006, with HACCP certification obtained in 2007 and Blue cheese production commencing the same year. The 'Hokkaido Kobayashi Farm' brand was launched in 2009, SQF certification was acquired in 2012, FSSC22000 certification in 2020, and the company celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2023.
