  Founded in 1984 as a noodle research laboratory (Japan Food Research) in a workshop space near Marugame Castle, Sanshō Co., Ltd. was established in 1986 and began full-scale udon sales. The company constructed its main factory in the Sakaide district in 1988, launched mail order operations in 1995, and entered e-commerce in 2000 with the opening of udon restaurant 'Kijōan' inside JR Sakaide Station. In 2001, the company began research and production of homemade dashi, and received the Rakuten Gourmet Award in 2002. A dashi factory, soba factory, and prepared dishes factory were built in 2004, marking the launch of 100% domestic wheat udon. In 2013, sales and shipping departments relocated to a new office in Utazu, and in 2021, the company introduced an eight-stage preparation method for noodle production.
