  Founded as a sole proprietorship by Akihiko Kimura in 1984, Toyo Fermentation Co., Ltd. was established as a corporation with a capital of 3 million yen in March 1986. In 1999, the capital was increased to 90.81 million yen and the Tokyo branch was opened. The company received the Chubu New Business Award and the Chubu New Business Council Chairman's Prize in 2002, obtained ISO9001 certification in 2003 and relocated its headquarters and central research laboratory. In 2004, it won the Nikkei New Office Award and the Chubu New Business Council Chairman's Prize. The company was certified as an Aichi Brand Company in 2005, and acquired Sukoyaka Foods Co., Ltd. as a subsidiary in 2010. In 2017, it was selected as a Regional Future-Leading Company by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, obtained BELS certification at its headquarters building, and acquired Nihon Lace Co., Ltd. The Tokyo branch was relocated in 2018. In 2019, the company received Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization recognition (consecutively for 8 years as of 2026), and was certified as a Silver-level Aichi Work-Style Reform Master Company in 2023. In 2025, it was recognized as an Aichi Women Shining Company.
