  Founded in 1942 as Yasujishi Narimitsu Shoten, beginning with the manufacture of Kishu umeboshi, the company commenced sales to the Tokyo market in 1947. The company introduced small-package production in 1956, established an Osaka direct sales outlet in 1963, and began manufacturing Taiwan-origin umeboshi in 1964. In 1970, it opened a Tokyo sales office and was reorganized as Umeta Corporation. Yasujishi Narimitsu assumed the position of representative director in 1972, followed by the relocation of the Osaka sales office in 1975. The company earned JAS certification from the Ministry of Agriculture in 1976 and introduced computer-controlled automatic weighing equipment in 1977. A new Tokyo sales office was built in 1980, and the head office factory underwent renovation with production line mechanization in 1982. Yasujishi Ichiro became representative director in 1983. In 1993, the company introduced an online computer system and completed a new head office building. The second factory was completed in 2001, and Yasujishi Sachao assumed the position of representative director in 2005. ISO22000 certification was obtained in 2007.
