Company History of Sugi Seika Co., Ltd.

  Founded in 1970 with a cracker machine inherited from a relative, Sugi Seika Corporation launched "Ika Yaki" (squid cracker) in 1973. The company began wholesale transactions with distributors in Nagoya in 1977 and reached annual sales of 114 million yen in 1980. Sugi Seika Corporation was officially established as a corporation in September 1982, followed by the launch of "Ika Ichiban" in 1985. The company opened its first direct-sales retail store, "Yakitateya no Mise Sugi" Chuo Branch, in 1989, after establishing a retail outlet in 1988. The Fushimi Factory (currently Nakae Factory) was completed in 1990. OEM business operations began in 1993, and "Ebisen Kyowakoku" and "Ebisen Kazoku" main store opened in 2000. The head office factory was completed in 2004, the same year Sugi Seika received Aichi Brand Company certification. "Aka Sha Ebi" was launched in 2009. In 2015, Kaisen Senbei Shiogama Corporation was established and the Tohoku Factory was completed. The company opened "Toyota Meglia" main store and launched "Chitose no Ebi" in 2017. The head office factory obtained JFS-B Ver.2.0 certification in 2020, and new products including "Chocolate Sand," "Sweet Okaki," and "Shifuku no Kakimochi" were released in 2023.
