Company History of Nakagawa Brewing Co., Ltd.

  Founded as Nakagawa Brewery in Taketoyoshi in 1920, Nakagawa Jozo expanded with a new factory in Yoshi-ike-cho, Kariya in 1931. The company began subcontracting tamari pressing in 1956, and started manufacturing animal feed and fertilizer from miso lees in 1958. A miso lees drying facility was established in Toyokawa in 1959, followed by the commercialization of dried, sterilized, and granulated lees-based feed and fertilizer products in 1960. Nakagawa Jozo Ltd. was established in 1961, and an alcoholic beverage sales license was obtained in 1964. The company mechanized koji addition and miso excavation in 1966, miso pressing in 1969, and acquired three patents for pressing processes in 1972. In 1973, a patent for a fully automated miso cloth folding apparatus was obtained. A miso lees drying powder sterilization machine was installed in 1975, and alcohol sales expanded to commercial operations in 1978. Equipment enhancements continued with a reinforced pressing facility in 1991 and the original development of a lees peeling machine in 1992. Nakagawa Jozo Co., Ltd. was incorporated in 2003. In 2004, two plant equipment patents were filed and the headquarters factory was expanded. The company's second distribution center factory commenced operations in 2010, capital was increased to 20 million yen in 2011, the third factory began operations in 2016, and in 2018, the first factory was renovated with expanded pressing equipment and additional moromi brewing tanks.
