  Founded in February 1948 with capital of 180,000 yen, Daiei Sangyo Co., Ltd. began as an authorized distributor for Nagoya Rubber Co., Ltd. (now Toyota Gosei) in July 1949 and Japan Food Chemical Industries in October of the same year. The company expanded its operations with the establishment of the Hamamatsu branch office in February 1952, followed by the commencement of import-export operations with China in February 1956. In June 1960, Ichiei Kogyo was established and the Tokyo sales office opened. Tokai Toyota Agricultural Machinery Sales (now Unica) was founded in February 1961, and in December the company received designation as a Sino-Japanese Friendship Trading Company. The handling of imported alcoholic beverages commenced in August 1963. Subsequent expansions included the Kariya sales office in May 1964, relocation of headquarters to Nakamura Ward in April 1967, and the Nishi-Sakai sales office (currently Nagoya Factory) in September 1967. In January 1968, the company became a special distributor for Toyota Tsusho and began handling metals. The trading of miscellaneous legumes from domestic and international sources commenced in February 1972. Nakanihon Noosan was established in August 1980, and a rice milling facility was opened in Aiseishi in September 1996. The company increased its capital to 303 million yen in June 2000, and established a new food manufacturing division within the Nagoya Factory in October 2001. Certifications followed, with the Kariya sales office obtaining ISO14001 in December 2001, the food manufacturing division obtaining ISO22000 in July 2007, and both the metal and food manufacturing divisions obtaining ISO14001 in September 2007. The Obu sales office opened in August 2010, followed by the opening of a dedicated staple rice factory in Tsushima City in April 2011. The Hamamatsu Chemical Products Division acquired ISO9001 certification in December 2015. In June 2016, the food manufacturing division obtained FSSC22000 certification. The Ichinomiya Factory was established in July 2016 following the acquisition of operations from Nissei Kougane. In December 2018, the company acquired operations from Shirakawa Kokoku.
