  Founded in 1950, Nagai Shoji began manufacturing and selling sodium bicarbonate and baking powder in Kumamoto City. In 1955, it was reorganized as a limited partnership and commenced rice vermicelli production. The company relocated its headquarters to its current location in 1963 and began producing falling-drop method rice vermicelli. It was restructured as a joint-stock company in 1965. In 2001, the company established a joint venture in China to launch its mung bean rice vermicelli business, building a robust supply system serving both domestic and international markets.
