1. In 1800 (Kansei 12)
2. the founder Matabe began brewing soy sauce in Sakai under the name Kawachiya. The shop relocated to Sakai Shin-zaike-cho in 1830
3. and the name was changed to Kawamori in 1871. The trademark 'Matsu no Mori' was registered in 1889
4. and the brand was granted Imperial Household Agency (Kunaichō) approval in 1898. In 1905
5. the company pioneered Japan's first pure cultivation of soy sauce koji fungus 'Kawamatakabi'
6. and completed a new factory with mechanized operations in 1907. The company was incorporated in 1926. Following the Sakai air raid of 1945 that destroyed the headquarters factory
