Company History of Fukuyama Brewing Co., Ltd.

Founded in November 1891 as Yamato Fukuyama Shouten in Sapporo with soy sauce manufacturing operations, the company began miso production in 1912 and established the Naebo Factory in 1918. In 1935, the headquarters and production facilities were consolidated at Naebo. The company underwent corporate reorganization to become Fukuyama Food Industry Co., Ltd. in June 1943, changed its name to Tomoe Soy Sauce Co., Ltd. in 1951, and to Fukuyama Brewing Co., Ltd. in 1955. Miso manufacturing was transferred to Hokkaido Miso Co., Ltd. in 1972, and soy sauce manufacturing to Hokkaido Soy Sauce Co., Ltd. in 1974. The company marked its centennial in 1991, obtained ISO9001:2000 certification in 2003, and was designated as a Hokkaido Heritage site in 2004 and as a Modernization Industrial Heritage in 2007. It acquired ISO9001:2015 certification in 2017 and Hokkaido HACCP certification in 2019. A new brand, Yamato Fukuyama Shouten, was launched in 2020. Hokkaido Soy Sauce Co., Ltd. obtained FSSC22000 certification in 2023, followed by Hokkaido Miso Co., Ltd. in 2024.
