  Founded in 1949 as Asahi High Pressure Slate Manufacturing Company's Suzaka Plant for thick slate production, the company transitioned into the food industry in 1963 with the establishment of Shinshū Comprehensive Foods and the production of dried apples. In 1970, following the merger with Shinshū Comprehensive Foods, the company was renamed Asahi Food Industries and began AD (air-dried) product manufacturing. In 1971, the company successfully developed AD Cabbage Flakes (patent obtained for osmotic pressure method). The company introduced its first FD (freeze-dry) machine in 1974 and began freeze-dried food manufacturing. In 1978, FD block ingredient manufacturing commenced (patent obtained for prepack method). The company expanded internationally by establishing ASUZAC FOODS in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 1994, and was renamed Asuzac Foods Inc. in 1997. Subsequent expansions included a second factory in 1998, and a third factory with finishing facility in 2000, along with the initiation of proprietary soup production. In 2003, the company obtained ISO14001 certification and established a factory in Shandong Province, China. The company further expanded with a Dalat factory in Vietnam in 2005 and a Shaoxing factory in China in 2006, obtaining ISO9001 certification that same year. ISO22000 certification was acquired in 2007. The company increased capital to ¥98 million in 2011. A new packaging facility and quality assurance center were completed in 2012. The Takayama warehouse was completed and FD machines 14 and 15 became operational in 2017. FSSC22000 certification was obtained in 2018. The Ho Chi Minh City factory received FSSC22000 certification in 2020, followed by the Dalat factory in 2021. The Savarin Design Lab commenced operations in 2023.
