Company History of Chiba Shoyu Co., Ltd.

1. Chiba Shoyu Co.
2. Ltd. traces its origins to 1854 when Omuraya Shoten was founded in Omigawa with financing from the Hizen Omura Domain. In 1864
3. Iida Sajibei Shoten was established in Asahi. In 1902
4. Iida Sajibei (5th generation) became the first Japanese to attempt overseas soy sauce production in Hawaii. Iida Honten was founded in 1933
5. followed by Yamamoto Rikizo's establishment of soy sauce and miso factories in China in 1939
6. which operated until the end of World War II. Omuraya was established in 1952. In 1964
7. Omuraya Co.
8. Ltd. and Iida Honten Co.
9. Ltd. merged to form Chiba Shoyu Co.
10. Ltd. with capital of 20 million yen. A new factory spanning approximately 11
11. 000 tsubo was constructed in the Omigawa Industrial Complex in 1971
12. followed by completion of wastewater treatment facilities in 1975. A dedicated sauce manufacturing plant opened in 1991 and a research laboratory in 1992. The company received the Minister of Agriculture

14. the head office and Asahi plant obtained organic certification. The Asahi plant achieved JAS certification in 2003
15. and the head office plant's sauce manufacturing division obtained HACCP certification in 2004. The Shimosa soy sauce earned two stars at the iTQi contest in 2007 and 2010. Halal certification was acquired in 2013. In 2014
16. the Asahi plant was relocated to the head office in Katori City
17. marking the company's 50th anniversary. FSSC22000 certification was obtained in 2018.
